For an art lover, Japan is a “must see” country and joining a Japan Tour is a great way to enjoy the art of Japan.
Many people may associate art in Japan with Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, but there is so much more. The Japanese have such an appreciation for art, that you could visit 6 galleries in a day and it would take you more than a month to visit all the museums and galleries in Tokyo.
Japan is the home to some of the best art collections in the world such as The National Museum of Western Art and the Bridgestone Museum of Art featuring the works of Cézanne, Monet, Van Gogh, Picasso, Rodin, Tintoretto, Reubens and many, many more.
There is The Nezu Museum and The Suntory Museum of Art featuring Asian Art and there is the seemingly endless number of tiny gallery spaces in Tokyo featuring art of all kinds. Each year Japan hosts travelling exhibitions from famous international galleries and museums. These have included The Guggenheim Museum, The Musee d’Orsay, The National Museum of Berlin, The Russian Hermitage Museum and Musee National Picasso.
On previous Japan Tours we have been able to see some of these wonderful exhibitions from these great institutions. To top this off, there are the exciting art projects on the “Art Islands” of Naoshima and Teshima. Being an art lover is yet another reason to join a Japan Tour. Of course as well as the art, there is the added bonus of enjoying the great architecture of the galleries and museums that we visit.
